What is Found Space Theatre?:

a theatre experiment.

Founded in 2015 in Greensboro, North Carolina by Stephanie Lindley, Found Space Theatre produces theatre with professionally-trained theatre artists for the purpose of sparking community dialogue through deep artistic commitment and intelligent entertainment.  THEATRE has a unique and specific power to generate empathy, and Found Space Theatre seeks to use that power to forge relationships and build bridges for a strong, healthy and more trusting society.

Why & How:

Found Space Theatre seeks to bring strong theatre pieces to everyone, everywhere, as our population seeks communal support from the collective trauma of the news. We produce critically praised material that speaks to our universal and/or individual social, political or historical concerns. We create broad accessibility through financial and physical convenience, with heavily discounted and pay-what-you-can ticket prices, and portable performances, so that we can take the story away from the traditional stage and place it inside of comfortable neighborhood spaces, using the people and things around us to help tell the story.  We do all of this by forming strong partnerships with social groups, passionate people, local businesses and community organizations.

Theatre is people powered.

Democracy is people powered.

We need to uphold democracy through participation.

We need to participate in theatre to uphold democracy.
